Configure Dot Matrix Printers

Dot matrix printers are installed through Group Policy to users' computers that require printers to be installed. However, there are a few changes that need to be made to the configuration settings.

Create New Paper Size[edit | edit source]

  • Open Control Panel
  • View Devices and Printers
  • Select one of your dot matrix printers (doesn't matter which one)
  • Click on Print Server Properties
  • Check the box labeled Create New Form
    • Form Name: 6x6
    • Units: English
    • Paper Size:
      • Width: 6
      • Height: 6
  • Click Save Form
  • Click OK

Change Printer Preferences[edit | edit source]

Label Printers[edit | edit source]

  • Right click on a label printer
  • Click Printing Preferences
  • Click Advanced
  • Change Paper Size to 6x6 (if you don't see it, see instructions above)
  • Change Print Quality to 360x180 dots per inch
  • Click OK
  • Click OK

Manifest, Work Order, Etc.[edit | edit source]

  • Right click on a label printer
  • Click Printing Preferences
  • Click Advanced
  • Change Print Quality to 360x180 dots per inch
  • Click OK
  • Click OK
